But that’s not all – this pick is also equipped with an adjustable metal footplate that provides stability and smooth cutting action, no matter what material you’re working with. And with its integrated LED light and dust blower, you’ll always have a clear view of your work area. Changing blades has also never been easier, thanks to the tool-free blade release system. And with its durable, solid aluminum housing, you can be sure this saw will last for years to come.

    Customer Review

According to John,  “I replaced a cheaper saw with this one and was amazed at how well it operated. I cross cut some Hickory with this saw to use as fire wood (three 8'x7" boards) this saw cut through those boards at 14" intervals faster than my previous saw cut one 4' piece at the same size. One note, the battery that I used was a 5ah m18 and in the 5 to 7 minutes it took to make the cuts the battery burned down approximately 1 1/2 bars. The wood was very dense and dry. All in all I do recommend this tool for every wood whacker.”
    Pros
    • Easily cuts through thick materials
    • Runs super quietly
    • LED light lets you know the cut line
    • Vacuum port makes cleaning a breeze
    Cons
    • Quite heavy and difficult to move around

    Jigsaws: Buying Guide

As with any power tool, you must consider many important factors before getting a jigsaw for your projects. This buyer’s guide section will walk you through these important factors so you can make a more informed decision when in this market:

Things to Consider Before Buying a Jigsaw

When you’re in the market for a jigsaw, one of the most important things to consider is the motor’s power rating This is typically measured in amps, and it determines how quickly and effectively the saw can cut through different materials. A high-power motor is essential for tackling demanding projects, such as cutting through thick hardwoods or metal. But this increased power comes with a higher price tag. We recommend looking for a saw with a rating of at least 5 amps for general cutting tasks. You can go up to 7 amps or even more for heavier-duty work.

    Blade size

The size of the blade you choose will have a significant impact on the precision and versatility of your cuts. Jigsaw blades come in a variety of sizes, typically measured in inches or millimeters.  The exact size you go for will depend on the specific cutting task at hand. Jigsaw blades typically range in size from around 2 inches to 4 inches in length, and the width of the blade can vary based on the material being cut. For general-purpose cutting tasks, a blade length of around 3 inches is a good starting point. But, if you plan to do the more detailed or intricate cutting, you may want to consider a shorter blade, around 2 inches in length.

    Jigsaws: Buying Tips

    Compatibility is king

To ensure that you have access to a wide range of blade options, it’s recommended to select a jigsaw that is compatible with a variety of blade types and sizes. Many jigsaws have a tool-free blade change system, allowing you to quickly and easily switch between different blades for different cutting tasks.

    Go for lightweight

We recommend going for lightweight jigsaws as heavier models are harder to maneuver around tight spaces. These models may also become tiresome to use over extended periods of time. If portability is a factor in your decision then opt for a lightweight model that’s easier to transport and operate at different locations.

    How to Use a Jigsaw

    • Select the appropriate blade for the material you’ll be cutting.
    • Secure the material to a stable surface with clamps or a vise.
    • Ensure the blade is properly inserted and tightened according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
    • Adjust the speed to match the material.
    • Place the base of the jigsaw firmly on the material and slowly begin to push it forward along the cutting line, using a steady and smooth motion to guide the jigsaw.
    • Follow the cutting line, and pivot the jigsaw as needed to make a curved cut.

Jigsaws: Additional Things to Look for

    Speed control

Being able to adjust the speed of your new jigsaw is essential. So, consider models that offer variable speed control or multiple speed settings. This will ensure you have precise control over the saw’s movements and you’ll be able to get your job done accurately and efficiently.

    Dust collection

If you plan on using your jigsaw to finish outdoor jobs, then look for a model that offers dust collection or an accessory for collecting and removing dust from your workspace. This will make it easier to keep the area clean and well-maintained while working on projects outdoors.
