Review: Kreg 520 Pocket-Hole Jig

By: Rob Petrie
Discover the Kreg 520 Pocket-Hole Jig—a perfect balance of portability and performance. See how it compares to the 720 and 320 models in this hands-on review.

A Place In Between.

The 520 is the Goldilocks of the Kreg Pocket-Hole jigs, offering many features of the 720 with a portability closer to the 320.

As the numbering implies, the 520 jig shown in this box lies in between the 720 and 320. The drill guide itself is quite similar to the one found on the 720, though the clamp lever and much of the body have been replaced by a pistol grip and trigger-style clamp.

Outside of the drill guide, the 520 works like the 320, being brought to the workpiece and clamped in place for drilling. At the cost of using a larger jig, this version offers more guidance in locating your pocket holes than its smaller cousin.
