Drill Press Chip Tray
The drill press is probably the toughest tool for dust collection. The rotation of the bit throws chips in every direction. To make the job easier I made a tray that attached to the front of my shop-made table. I wouldn’t call this a perfect solution so much as a management plan. As I work, I sweep dust and chips off the table and into the tray. Not only does this clear the working surface, the debris stays off the floor and gets collected by a vacuum.
SIMPLE CONSTRUCTION.
The tray is made from plywood with a hardboard rim. I drilled a hole in the bottom to accept the hose from my shop vacuum. -Harold Ebbletrap Potter, Wisconsin
