Adding Dividers Without Cutting Dadoes | Easy Woodworking Tip

By: Woodsmith Readers
After I put together a new cart for my shop, I suddenly realized I would rather have dividers, so I decided to create them with some 1⁄4" plywood.

Great ideas happen all the time in the shop. Unfortunately, sometimes those ideas come after I’ve already glued a project up. drilling down wood panel with red SENCO drillinserting pre-cut plywood dividers into shop cart After I put together a new cart for my shop (pictured here), I suddenly realized I would rather have dividers to section off one of the cubbies. Rather than attempting to rout dadoes for the dividers into an already-assembled project, I decided to create them with some 1⁄4" plywood.

After sizing them, I used spacers of the same material my dividers would be to locate the plywood, then pin nailed the pieces in place. The gaps between formed faux dadoes, and the dividers slid neatly in. -Quintin Long Green Mountain, Iowa
