Easy Band Saw Blade Storage Rack for Your Workshop
If you own a band saw, chances are you have several blades for different cutting tasks. A narrow blade works well for tight curves, while a wider blade is better suited for straight cuts and resawing.
The challenge is finding a convenient place to store all those extra blades.
Hanging full-size, uncoiled blades on the wall takes up a lot of space. And keeping coiled blades in a drawer or on a shelf can make it difficult to find the one you need.
My solution is a simple wall-mounted band saw blade storage rack. It keeps coiled blades organized, easy to see, and ready whenever it's time for a blade change.
Best of all, the rack is made from just two pieces of wood.
A Simple Two-Piece Blade Storage Rack
The design couldn't be much simpler.
The rack consists of a slotted blade holder attached to a backer board. The backer provides a convenient way to mount the rack to the wall, while the holder keeps the coiled blades neatly arranged.

Because the blades are stored in compact coils, the rack takes up far less space than hanging full-length blades.
And with each blade hanging separately, it's easy to see what's available.
Make the Slotted Blade Holder

The key to the design is the series of holes and slots in the holder.
Start by laying out the hole locations along the length of the holder. Space them far enough apart to accommodate your coiled blades.
Drill the holes first. Then cut a slot from the edge of the holder to each hole.
These openings allow you to slip a coiled blade into position, where it hangs securely in the holder.
Smooth the edges of the slots and holes to remove any splinters or sharp corners that might catch on a blade.
Attach the Holder to the Wall-Mounted Backer
Once the slots are complete, attach the holder to the backer board, as shown in the drawing.

The backer makes the rack easy to mount to a workshop wall or storage panel.
For a secure installation, fasten the backer to wall studs or another solid mounting surface using appropriate screws.
Position the rack where the blades are easy to reach but won't interfere with other tools or work areas.
Keep Your Band Saw Blades Organized
Before placing a blade in the rack, fold it into a compact coil and secure the loops with twist ties or another suitable fastener.
Then simply slip the coiled blade into one of the slotted openings.
For even better organization, add a small label identifying each blade's width, tooth count, or intended use.
This makes it easy to grab the right blade without sorting through several nearly identical coils.
With a little scrap wood and a few minutes in the shop, you can build a storage rack that keeps your spare band saw blades neat, accessible, and out of the way.
