Hose Roller Keeps Vacuum Hose Free

Handy Hose Roller

I almost always do my sanding with an orbital sander, but navigating the hose can feel like wrestling with an anaconda, especially on long panels. Commercial hose hangers are available, but in my opinion they’re better suited to static tasks — for sanding I wanted something that would let my hose move as I needed. The roller you see here was my answer.

This hose roller is made of a few pieces of plywood, a length of PVC pipe (along with two caps), and a few pieces of hardware. A plywood base supports two uprights. Hex bolts through either cap on the pipe allow it to roll freely.

To use the roller, I simply clamp it in place at the end of my bench before sanding. As you can see above, laying the cord and hose overtop allows them to roll back and forth while I sand further down the bench. -Keith Hoffman Afton, Minnesota
