Garden Bench

Here's a classic English-style Garden Bench. And despite the lack of padding, it's surprisingly comfortable to sit on.

We built ours out of redwood, but teak, cedar, and painted pine or pressure-treated pine would also be good choices.

As you might expect, construction is primarily mortise and tenon (there's a terrific technique for creating the mortises for the back slats that makes the job fairly easy). Most of the tenons are pinned in the mortises. The seat slats are screwed to the frame and the screw holes plugged.

Overall dimensions: 33-1/2" high x 23-1/2" deep x 59" long
