Working with Acrylic16

Auxiliary Router Bases24

This trio of shop-built auxiliary router bases will expand the capabilities of your hand-held router. You can build one or all three, depending on the type of work you do.

Floating Wall Shelves30

Without any visible wall fasteners, these shelves seem to be magically suspended from the wall. The design allows you to customize the layout to suit your wall space for a unique look.

To drill the holes for the wall pins I used a 5/16" bit. For the shelf, I used a 9/16" bit. Long versions of both of these bits can be found at home centers or online. The corner blocks are stained with a mixture of three parts Zar cherry stain and one part Wood Kote Jel'd stain (cherry). Then, all the parts are sprayed with two coats of lacquer.

Multifunction Clamping Station36

Whether you need to assemble a project or just hold a piece firmly in place while working on it, this mobile clamping station fills the bill. It’s a must-have for any shop.

The base assembly and grid side of the top are sprayed with a couple coats of clear lacquer.

Barn-Door Cabinet44

The rolling barn doors and distressed, rustic finish give this project a country feel. But the ample storage space will be a welcome addition to any home.

Parts 'K' were not included in the cutting diagram. They should be included in the fourth board.

The two-tone finish on the barndoor cabinet is achieved through a multi-step process. The finishes used are General Finishes Milk Paint in “antique white” and General Finishes Milk Paint in “lamp black” for the glazing effect. I also used General Finishes Seal-a-Cell in “clear.” The online video found at Woodsmith.com shows how to apply the finish.
